A portrait of a gentleman in St Andrews
Most of my photographs were taken in nearby St Andrews, Scotland, which is where I started shooting for this blog. There are only a few streets to work with, but the addition of the student population and tourists, present me with plenty of scope.
Have you got any idol that inspires you?
That’ll be Scott Schuman!!
I try to because there’s nothing worse than being without it when a good opportunity presents itself. A good back-up is to always carry with me, a few printed cards showing my blog address, to give to potential models.
What do you see when you shoot someone? (only the clothes, the style of the person…)
I see the one who stopped me in my tracks moments earlier, because of something I saw in them. I don’t think it’s just one thing, but a combination of factors all coming together. It’s all to do with the moment.
Did you think of making your own street style book like Sartorialist from Scott Schuman?
I liked his book so much that I own a copy! It’s a great source of inspiration for me. The thought of having a portrait/style book published one day excites me, but it’s just a thought.
This goes back to the day when my blog was founded. I was walking to a cafe to have a think over a coffee, about just how and where to begin my blog idea. Waiting outside was a dark- haired girl (below), who I thought would make an ideal portrait. To my delight I was permitted to take her photograph, which to this day, is still one of my favorites.
The future is not mine to see. I like how my creativity evolves, and how one idea leads to another. I’m taking one day at a time and I only look as far ahead as the next street corner.
Why do you do, what you do?
hope everyone like this interview!he’s so talented and really nice!thanks!;)
